What is Breast Reconstruction Surgery?
In breast reconstruction surgeries, it is an operation performed to achieve a natural appearance for missing or asymmetrical breasts. Depending on the situation, either a permanent breast prosthesis is placed directly or a tissue expander balloon (tissue expander) is placed for a while to ensure the stretching and expansion of the tissue and then the prosthesis is used.
Breast Reduction
The breast, which can be considered the physical and visual focus of the female body, can also become the cause of serious problems when it is large and sagging. For this reason, breast reduction is one of the preferred methods among breast aesthetic operations. Breast reduction surgery may become necessary in cases of problems caused by large and sagging breasts. In this way, sagging and excess tissue in the breast structure is actually removed and a breast size compatible with the body structure is obtained. The purpose of breast reduction surgery is to obtain a firm breast that fits the person’s body structure and thus to prevent health problems that arise or may arise due to breast structure.

Gynecomastia

Gynecomastia; means breast enlargement in men. Gynecomastia, which can be observed in approximately half of adult men, can cause psychological problems that reduce the person’s quality of life as well as aesthetic problems. Breasts not being in the desired shape can lead to psychological and social problems such as embarrassment, lack of self-confidence, anxiety, difficulty in choosing clothes and even depression. Gynecomastia; It may occur due to the growth of the mammary glands (glandular type), due to excess fat tissue (fatty type) or due to excess of both mammary glands and fat tissue (mixed type). Since the breasts are more similar to the female breast in gynecomastia that occurs due to breast growth, this type of gynecomastia may disrupt the person’s body perception more. Gynecomastia that does not require treatment and usually disappears within a few years can be observed in infancy, adolescence and old age.
Types of Gynecomastia
This type of pathology can be detected both with examination and ultrasound. It is the situation where both breast and fat tissue are excessive together that is frequently encountered in practice. Although gynecomastia does not have a very specific cause, the situation encountered in practice is idiopathy, causeless or conjugational because when the existing diseases are hormonal disorders, liver disorders, cirrhosis, drug use, alcohol addiction, cancer, etc., the patient suffers from these conditions more than from gynecomastia. Therefore, we can classify gynecomastia that develops under these conditions as causeless. There are three different types of gynecomastia in general. These are; Excess breast tissue, Excess fat tissue, Excess both breast and fat tissue.
Gynecomastia also appears as temporary gynecomastia at the age of 14-15. This condition does not need any treatment. It goes away on its own at the age of 17-18. However, if there is gynecomastia that does not go away by the age of 17-18 and continues, it is now classified as normal gynecomastia and needs to be treated. The treatment method is surgical. The treatment of gynecomastia does not differ. The only and clear method should be surgical.
Causes of Breast Enlargement in Men
Gynecomastia can also occur without any cause. None of the actions such as hormone treatments, wearing singlets, some methods used externally, doing too much sports, losing weight will correct gynecomastia. The reason for this is that the breast tissue remains in the same place when weight is lost. In fact, contrary to popular belief, one of the most innocent causes of gynecomastia is not losing too much weight, but gaining it. At the same time, if patients have gained too much weight, this is also a cause of gynecomastia due to excess fat tissue, but losing weight does not mean that gynecomastia will improve. Excessive exercise done later will not correct gynecomastia either. These interventions can make the breast tissue harder and more visible. The most common causes of gynecomastia are:
Weight gain that causes increased fat tissue in the breasts, Hormonal disorders, Heart medications, cancer medications, hormone-containing medications, antidepressants, amphetamines and cortisone, Alcohol and drug use, Some types of cancer, especially lung and liver cancer, Testicular (ovarian) and adrenal gland tumors, Thyroid gland diseases (goiter)
