Filling Aesthetics is important in reducing collagen in the skin over time as a result of age, smoking, sun and gravity and in eliminating wrinkles. And when this process is not intervened, the amount of fat in the facial area both decreases and the location of the fat changes, causing sagging on our face. The sagging and hollows that occur are corrected with filling aesthetics.
If we simplify filling aesthetics; It is a reinforcement process performed on the area with insufficient volume. However, this is only a simplified version. The effect of filling aesthetics on the area where it is applied varies depending on the type, structure and of course the quality of the filler used.
Facial filling aesthetics can be said to be the equivalent of the rejuvenating effect of the wrinkle remover on the upper face area in the lower face area. And when the ‘passive wrinkles’ that I mentioned before, which cannot be eliminated with wrinkle removal, are combined with facial filling, it provides up to 100% improvement.
Although it has become a procedure that has become quite popular and has had very successful results recently, it is a procedure that has been subject to considerable prejudice among our people due to the involvement of many physicians and non-physicians who are not authorized in this matter.
Before giving more detailed information, I would like to enlighten you about the duration of fillers. After the filler is injected into the area where it is applied, it integrates with the structure under our skin and some chemical reactions begin. This is the metabolization phase of the filler, which begins as soon as the filler is applied. It varies between 9 months and 3 years depending on the quality and structure of the filler.
The other process that affects the chemical process is the mechanical process. In other words, whether the area where the filler is applied is mobile or not. For example; it is not right to expect lip filler to melt in the same time as the filler applied to the nasolabial region or forehead region. Since the lip is a mobile area, the melting time of lip filler is shorter than in other areas.
Another factor that affects the melting time of the filler is the person’s lifestyle. The efficiency of the filler inevitably decreases in people who smoke, consume alcohol excessively and do not have a sleep pattern. When a quality filler is used, the permanence period is 9-18 months under the most appropriate conditions and this period varies from person to person.
The first thing you should pay attention to when having a filler aesthetic is whether it is a hygienic environment and whether the person who will perform the application is a plastic surgeon or a dermatologist. You may encounter undesirable results when the application is performed by someone other than authorized specialist doctors.
Another point you should pay attention to when having a filler aesthetic is whether the filler syringe has just been removed from its packaging! Why am I telling you this? Because quality filler means expensive filler and for this reason, there may be those who want to use half of the 1 ml syringe for you and the other half for another patient. The reason for this is to reduce the cost and therefore to perform the procedure cheaper than it deserves. If there is any filler left after the injector is new, definitely ask for the barcode number of that filler or request the remaining amount. (I open the filler material in front of my patients’ eyes and if there is any remaining amount, I deliver it to the patient for a touch-up procedure called touch-up within 15-20 days.)
Why is this important? If the remaining filling is used on another patient, there is a possibility that the other patient will catch the germ and become infected, even if the tip of the syringe is changed. This is a practice that puts your health at risk.
Fillers can be applied to any area that is deemed insufficient in volume (face, body, legs, etc.). Although the most popular applications are the lips and lines of sadness (nasolabial folds and marionette lines), the volume-giving process can be applied to any area carefully.
The thing to consider is the patient’s wishes and the amount to be used is determined according to the patient’s wishes. For example, the amount applied for lip filler is not the same for every patient. While some patients have sufficient lip volume, the contour part is not prominent, and the amount of filler used for contour definition is not the same as the amount required to add volume. While 1 ml of filler is sufficient for some patients to get the desired result, some patients may need 2 ml or more. Your doctor and you can make the best decision on this.
With aging, the dermis layer in the lip area thins, volume loss and flattening of the lip contour occurs. In order to perform lip filler, the authorized practitioner must take these changes into consideration.
When performing lip filler, the patient’s wishes should be at the forefront. When you look in the mirror, you should first decide what kind of lip structure makes you happy. After you decide, if what you want is anatomically and medically appropriate, the required amount is calculated and the lip filler procedure is started.
Local anesthesia can be applied with a numbing cream or needle during lip filler. The lip filler procedure is not a painful procedure and takes an average of 30-40 minutes with numbing.
After lip augmentation, the lips should be wide and voluminous enough for the face structure,
The proportions of the lower lip and upper lip should be appropriate,
Most importantly, it should look natural and should not lift the lip too much (however, some patients may specifically request this, in such a case, a lift can be performed),
The lip contour should be distinct after lip augmentation, so that your lips will look brighter and fuller when lipstick is applied.
I work interactively with my patients while performing lip fillers, meaning I get their opinions at every stage and help them see the change that is taking place.
There may be edema that lasts for 2-3 days after the procedure, in such a case, a warm compress can be applied.
It is recommended to massage the application area using antibiotic creams after the procedure.
I usually tell my patients to avoid very hot and very cold foods and drinks after the procedure and what to pay attention to if they smoke.
There is no rule that every patient will have edema after lip filler. However, edema is not an indication that things are going wrong, of course. What is important is what you should do in such a case.
When edema occurs after lip filler, your doctor will give you information about it.
In the first 30 days after lip filler, you may feel lumps in the lip line during the adhesion phase of the filler. In such a case, you can disperse the lumps by lightly massaging the area.
The duration of lip filler varies from person to person, but it is 9-12 months. However, this does not mean that it will not melt until the 9th month; since the lip is a mobile area after the filler is applied, it starts to metabolize quickly and the melting process takes 9 months. In other words, there will definitely be a difference between your lip volume in the 4th month and your lip volume in the 8th month. Although this fact may be demoralizing, you must have noticed that many practitioners do not tell you this. Fortunately, lip filler and fillers applied to other areas do not completely disappear and 10% of them remain, and this residual effect accumulates with each repetition, ensuring that your lip never returns to its original state.
The duration of lip filler is also closely related to the quality of the filler, and the average duration of lip filler is 8-9 months.
