What is PRP?
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a substance obtained from platelets found in the blood, whose main function is to stop bleeding by providing clotting. Platelets; In the event of any injury, they come to the cut area via blood and when activated, they stop bleeding and release many growth factors that provide new tissue formation. Studies have proven that these cells help regeneration in the tissue they are injected into (bone, cartilage, nerve, connective tissue, tendon) even if there is no injury. Growth factors increase the work of cells that produce new collagen and ensure that the substances necessary for new collagen are transferred to where they are located.
How is PRP obtained?
To obtain PRP, the blood taken from the patient is transferred to a special tube and centrifuged according to a specified protocol, and a platelet serum with a three- to four-fold increased platelet density is obtained. As a result, this concentrated platelet-containing serum also means concentrated growth factors.
What are the uses of PRP and Growth Factor?
Even if there is no injury to the tissue, concentrated platelets secrete growth factors where they are injected, increasing the work of new collagen-producing cells, and also ensuring that the substances necessary for new collagen are brought to where they are. Thus, new collagen production and a brighter, more vigorous appearance are achieved in facial injections.
What are the benefits of PRP?
The application areas of PRP are the treatment of fine wrinkles caused by aging, the reduction of blemishes, the increase of skin elasticity, the reduction of porous appearance, the recovery of skin moisture and the achievement of brightness. PRP application, which is a kind of mesotherapy procedure, cannot give the desired result with a single session, with repeated applications at certain intervals, the skin is more resistant to external factors and the aging process is slowed down. PRP; It is used together with processes such as dermapen, filler, laser, chemical pelling and increases their effectiveness. It is also used to reduce hair loss in scalp and increase hair thickness.
How is PRP applied?
After taking 20 ml of the person’s own blood, the serum obtained by centrifugation is placed in syringes with thin needles. It is injected in an amount that will create a small bulge under the skin in the targeted areas. These bulges will disperse within half an hour. An average of five ml of PRP is sufficient for the entire face and neck. Three or four applications should be made at two-week intervals. Annual repetitions are recommended, as it will be more beneficial if repeated every six months or a year.
Are there any side effects of PRP?
Since it is obtained from your own blood, there is no risk of allergic reactions to this serum. Since all procedures are performed in hospital conditions with sterile and disposable materials, there is no risk of infection. During the application, there may be small bruises in the areas where the needles are inserted, and these bruises will disappear within 1 week depending on personal characteristics.
